How to activate ProperConvert offline or when a firewall blocks the app

If your computer has no internet connection, or if corporate security software or a firewall blocks ProperConvert from reaching our license server, you can activate your license using an offline license text (PCOL1:...).

Every paid license supports offline activation. Free trials require an internet connection.

Before you begin

1. Use version 8.0.112 or newer. Earlier versions do not include full offline activation and the browser activation link. To update an isolated computer, download the latest installer on a computer with internet access from the Downloads page and transfer it to the offline computer.
2. Enter your registration code first. In ProperConvert, open Help > Unlock/Register/Account, switch to the Enter code tab, paste your registration code, and click Activate.
   • If you just purchased a new license code (version 4, 112 characters) and have no internet connection, it works immediately for 3 days from the purchase date before needing confirmation.

Case 1: The computer has a web browser, but a firewall blocks ProperConvert

When ProperConvert cannot reach the license server directly, you can complete activation through your web browser—no account sign-in or order email is required:

1. In ProperConvert, open Help > Unlock/Register/Account, select the Enter code tab, and click Offline activation....
2. Click Open activation page (or click Copy link and paste it into your browser). This opens https://www.propersoft.net/customer/activate with a signed request for your registration code and computer.
3. On the web page, click Copy to copy the generated offline license text (it starts with PCOL1:).
4. Return to the Offline activation window in ProperConvert, click Paste, and click Activate.

Case 2: The computer has no internet connection at all

You can carry a short request text (PCOR1:...) out of the offline computer—using a USB drive, a shared folder, or a virtual machine clipboard—get the offline license text on any device with internet access, and bring it back:

Step 1: Copy or save the request on the offline computer

1. In ProperConvert on the offline computer, open Help > Unlock/Register/Account > Enter code, make sure your registration code is entered, and click Offline activation....
2. In the Offline activation window:
   • If you can copy a link to another device, click Copy link.
   • Otherwise, click Copy to copy the request text (starting with PCOR1:), or click Save as file... to save it as a .txt file.

Step 2: Get the offline license text on a device with internet access

Use whichever option fits you:

• If you copied the link: Open that link in any web browser. The page immediately generates your offline license text (PCOL1:...).
• With your registration code (no sign-in needed): Open https://www.propersoft.net/customer/activate, enter your registration code, paste the PCOR1:... request text (or upload the request .txt file), and click Activate.
• From your customer area: Sign in at https://www.propersoft.net/customer/, click Get an offline license (or open https://www.propersoft.net/customer/offline), paste the PCOR1:... request text (or upload its file), and click Send.

Copy the resulting PCOL1:... license text, or click Save as file to download ProperConvert offline license.txt, and transfer it back to the offline computer.

Step 3: Activate on the offline computer

1. In ProperConvert on the offline computer, open Help > Unlock/Register/Account > Enter code > Offline activation....
2. Click Paste to paste the PCOL1:... text (or click Load file... and select ProperConvert offline license.txt), then click Activate.

ProperConvert will confirm the offline license and show the date it is valid until. It will convert without limits and without contacting the license server until that date.

How long an offline license lasts and how seats work

• Seats: Each offline license uses one of the computers (seats) your license covers and is bound to that specific computer and installation.
• Expiration:
  • Subscription licenses: Valid until the end of your current paid billing period. After your subscription renews, repeat the steps above to get a new offline license text for the next period.
  • Perpetual (lifetime) licenses: Valid for one year from the day it is issued. After one year, generate a new request to get another one-year offline license at no cost.

Moving an offline license to another computer

Because an offline computer never contacts our server, deactivating it in the app cannot free its seat online automatically—and the Deactivate button in the online Customer Area cannot release an unexpired offline seat while the offline license is still valid on that machine.

To move an offline seat to a new computer before it expires:

1. On the old offline computer, open Help > Unlock/Register/Account > Enter code and click Deactivate.
2. ProperConvert removes the offline license from that computer and opens a window with a release text (starting with PCOD1:) and your registration code.
3. In the Offline license removed window, click Copy or Save as file... (or click Open activation page if that computer has browser access) and take the PCOD1:... release text to a device with internet access.
4. Open https://www.propersoft.net/customer/activate (with your registration code) or https://www.propersoft.net/customer/offline (signed in to your customer area), paste the PCOD1:... release text into the request box, and submit it.
5. Once the page confirms that the old computer's seat is free, you can activate the new computer.
