Do expenses need to be negative?

I created the file and imported it. Worked fine. BUT all of my expenses came in as deposits! If this is a standard result, PLEASE put that in the documentation!

Yes, either for a bank account or credit card account, expenses must be negative, and payments must be positive.

Use the "Change the amount sign" button to change the amounts (positive to negative and negative to positive) for whole file in one click.

yes because income is positive.  income less expenses = profit (or loss) - that's your P&L / operating statement.

two columns layout (debits and credits separate) also supported. Both columns may have amounts as positive numbers. Name the columns as Debit and Credit for automatic parsing.
