How to import a CSV file into AccountEdge Pro (as OFX)

AccountEdge Pro does not import CSV or Excel files, but it imports OFX bank statements. Convert the CSV or Excel file to OFX with ProperConvert, then import it from the Bank Register through Bank Statement > Import Statement.

Convert the CSV file to OFX

Open the CSV or Excel file in ProperConvert, check the column mapping, and convert to OFX. See convert CSV to OFX and mapping CSV files.

Import the OFX file into AccountEdge

  1. Click Bank Register.
  2. Click Bank Statement.
  3. Click Import Statement.
  4. Go to the OFX file and click Open.
  5. AccountEdge reports how many transactions were in the file, how many were imported and how many were skipped. Click OK.

After the import

Negative amounts are imported as withdrawals and positive amounts as deposits. Check numbers and payees are imported too.

You still assign an account to each transaction: the expense or income account you use for it. A bank statement does not know your accounting. A Home Depot purchase can be a utility expense for one company and office or building supplies for another.
