Other accounting apps
Your app is not listed above? Check which import formats it supports (usually OFX, QIF or CSV), then convert your file to that format with ProperConvert. If your app is missing, let us know so we can add it.
Sage 50, Sage 300 and Sage One. Sage imports OFX files, in the desktop products (Sage 50, Sage 300) and in the online service (Sage One). The bank ID, branch ID and account number in the OFX file must match the account settings in Sage, or Sage will not import the file. Set them in ProperConvert before you save.
ZarMoney. ZarMoney imports OFX and QFX files. Convert PDF, CSV or Excel statements to OFX first.
LessAccounting. LessAccounting imports QIF and QFX files. Convert a CSV, Excel or PDF file to QIF or QFX first. QBO and OFX files are extended OFX files: try them directly, and convert them if LessAccounting rejects them. A QIF or QFX file that will not import may be named correctly but not structured to the format. ProperConvert tolerates many file errors and writes a correct file from it.
YNAB. YNAB imports CSV, QIF, QFX and OFX files.
Common formats accounting apps import
OFX is the most widely supported format and the first choice for most apps and online services. It includes a transaction ID (reference ID) when your bank supplies one, which lets the app skip transactions it already has. There are a few OFX variants, so select the OFX file type for your app; when not sure, select "OFX all apps". Some apps, such as Sage and Xero, also check the account number, bank ID and currency in the file, so set them to match the app's account settings.
QIF carries no transaction ID, and its dates may be DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY. Use the date format of your country settings, and select "MS Money or other" as the QIF target unless your app has its own. Amounts must not use a thousands separator. Converting QIF to OFX avoids the date confusion.
CSV works when the app accepts a simple table of date, description and amount. Choose the CSV layout the app expects; see CSV/Excel.
From a PDF statement, ProperConvert extracts the date, amount, description and check number, and takes the payee from the description. These map to the OFX fields date, amount, payee, memo and check number.
