Docparser vs ProperConvert: PDF data extraction and statement conversion compared
Docparser and ProperConvert
Docparser and ProperConvert both extract data from PDF bank statements. Docparser is a cloud platform where you define parsing rules with zonal OCR and anchor keywords and route the results to spreadsheets, cloud drives and business apps. ProperConvert is a desktop converter that already knows what a statement looks like and writes the file your accounting software imports. This page lists what each one is and what it costs.

What Docparser is
Docparser is a cloud-only data extraction platform. You upload PDFs, scans, Word, Excel, CSV or text files, or send them by email, FTP or cloud drive; you build parsing rules by drawing zones on the page, anchoring on keywords and extracting tables; and the results go out as CSV, Excel, JSON or XML, to Google Sheets, Dropbox, Box, OneDrive, Salesforce, or through Zapier, Power Automate, Make and webhooks. The built-in OCR deskews scans and reads barcodes and checkboxes, and a DocparserAI engine is offered alongside the rule-based parser.
Bank statements are one of the document types Docparser lists with invoices, purchase orders, contracts and shipping documents. Its integrations page does not name QuickBooks, Xero or Sage, and it does not offer bank file formats.
Docparser pricing
Docparser is priced in credits, with one credit covering up to five pages of a document. The Starter plan is $39 per month for 100 credits, or 100 to 500 pages a month, at $0.39 per credit, with higher tiers on the pricing page and about 20% off for annual billing. Add-ons include a paid parsing setup service and longer document retention than the standard 90 days. There is a 14-day free trial with no credit card.
What ProperConvert is
ProperConvert is one desktop application for Windows and macOS. It opens PDF statements, scanned PDF statements, CSV and Excel files, and QBO, QFX, OFX, QIF and QMTF files, shows the transactions in a table where you can review, edit, exclude and rename payees, and saves QBO, IIF, QFX, QIF, OFX, CSV and Excel files for QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Quicken, Xero, Sage and other accounting software. The conversion runs on your computer. Statements are never uploaded to a server.
ProperConvert pricing is one subscription for everything: $19.99 per month or $179.99 per year for one user, and a Team plan of three users at $49.98 per month or $449.97 per year. There are no page, statement or transaction limits, all formats are included, updates are free, and there is a 14-day money-back guarantee. A free trial is on the download page.

Which one fits
Docparser fits a business with a repeating document layout and a technical person who will build the parsing rules once and connect the output to Google Sheets, Salesforce or an automation. It is a toolkit, and a bank statement is one thing you can point it at.
ProperConvert fits a bookkeeper who does not want to build rules for each bank's layout and needs the statement in QuickBooks, Quicken, Xero or Sage as a bank file. It reads the statement, shows the rows, and saves the QBO, QFX, OFX, QIF or IIF file, on Windows or Mac, without an upload.
Questions people ask
Does Docparser work with QuickBooks?
QuickBooks, Xero and Sage are not on Docparser's integrations page, and it does not output QBO, OFX, QFX or QIF files; its results go to spreadsheets, cloud drives and automation tools. ProperConvert saves the bank files those programs import.
How are Docparser credits counted?
One credit covers up to five pages of a document, and the Starter plan is $39 per month for 100 credits. ProperConvert has no page or credit count.
Can I run Docparser on my own computer?
No. The site says it is cloud only and cannot be installed on premise. ProperConvert is a desktop app that processes files locally.
What is a Docparser alternative that needs no setup for bank statements?
ProperConvert. It recognizes statement layouts itself, so there are no zones or rules to draw.
