Hubdoc vs ProperConvert: document capture and statement conversion compared
Hubdoc and ProperConvert
Hubdoc and ProperConvert both live in the space between the bank and the books, but they do different jobs. Hubdoc, owned by Xero, captures receipts, invoices, bills and statements, files them in the cloud and publishes the data to Xero or QuickBooks Online with the source document attached. ProperConvert converts a statement into a bank file for import. This page lists what each one is and what it costs.
The facts below were checked on the two official websites on September 24, 2026. Prices and plans change; the links go to the current pages.
What Hubdoc is
Hubdoc is a web and mobile document capture service. You photograph receipts, forward invoices by email or upload files, and Hubdoc extracts the supplier name, amount, invoice number and due date, sorts the documents into searchable folders, keeps them forever, and creates the transactions in Xero, QuickBooks Online or Bill.com with the document attached. Bank statements can be captured and stored the same way.
What the site does not describe is turning a bank statement into a list of transactions or exporting one as a file; the site names no CSV, QBO or OFX export, and no QuickBooks Desktop or Sage integration.
Hubdoc pricing
Hubdoc has one plan at $12 per month per organisation with unlimited usage and multiple collaborators, after a 30-day free trial with no credit card. Xero includes Hubdoc with some of its plans; the Hubdoc site itself does not state which.
What ProperConvert is
ProperConvert is one desktop application for Windows and macOS. It opens PDF statements, scanned PDF statements, CSV and Excel files, and QBO, QFX, OFX, QIF and QMTF files, shows the transactions in a table where you can review, edit, exclude and rename payees, and saves QBO, IIF, QFX, QIF, OFX, CSV and Excel files for QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Quicken, Xero, Sage and other accounting software. The conversion runs on your computer. Statements are never uploaded to a server.
ProperConvert pricing is one subscription for everything: $19.99 per month or $179.99 per year for one user, and a Team plan of three users at $49.98 per month or $449.97 per year. There are no page, statement or transaction limits, all formats are included, updates are free, and there is a 14-day money-back guarantee. A free trial is on the download page.

Which one fits
Hubdoc fits a Xero or QuickBooks Online user who wants every receipt and bill captured by phone or email, stored forever and posted with the document attached, for $12 a month or as part of a Xero plan. It is a filing cabinet that also does data entry for bills.
ProperConvert fits the statement itself: the PDF or CSV the bank gave you, turned into a QBO, QFX, OFX, QIF or IIF file for QuickBooks Desktop or Online, Quicken, Xero or Sage, reviewed before import, with nothing uploaded. Many bookkeepers use a capture tool for bills and a converter for statements; they are not the same job.
